3 Chinese foreigners in Manado are not cases of Omicron

Suara.com – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan announced that 3 Chinese citizens in Manado with probable Omicron status, were not positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Luhut said the three positive Covid-19 samples had been examined using the whole genome sequencing method by the Balitbangkes of the Ministry of Health, and the results were not Omicron.

“So, it is confirmed that the news in Manado is not Omicron. Omicron is only at Wisma Athletes. We are shielding Wisma Athletes. We only have one place with Omicron, namely at Wisma Athletes,” Luhut said at a press conference, Monday (12/20/2021). ).

Thus, 4 positive cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Indonesia were detected at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The four cases include; Indonesian citizens who have just returned from Nigeria with the initials TF, Indonesian citizens who have just returned from America, Indonesian citizens who have just returned from England, and the cleaning staff of Wisma Athletes who were infected from TF.

He asked the public not to panic and continue to follow health protocols and immediately get vaccinated at the nearest health service, because vaccines have been proven to reduce pain when exposed to Covid-19.

“With a low death rate, we must remain vigilant and listen to official directions from the government. Don’t cause panic, our readiness is much better this year,” he said.

The government has also added England, Norway and Denmark to the list of foreigners who are prohibited from entering Indonesia due to the development of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the government removed Hong Kong foreigners who were previously barred from being allowed to enter Indonesia.

Thus, the list of foreigners who are prohibited from entering into 13 countries include; South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia, United Kingdom, Norway and Denmark.

So that foreigners who have a travel history in the last 14 of 13 countries where local transmission of the Omicron variant has occurred are prohibited from entering Indonesia.

Indonesian citizens (WNI) with a history of travel from these countries are still allowed to return home, but will be quarantined for 14 days upon arrival in the country.

Meanwhile, foreigners and Indonesian citizens from other countries not mentioned above are required to adjust the quarantine duration to 10×24 hours.
